Hello Friend,
My first trip embarking on a journey down the Columbia & Snake Rivers was a dream come true for me. Being a boy from small town Virginia, I had no idea what to expect but what I experienced was beyond anything I … expected. From the moment I boarded the ship in Portland, Oregon, I was captivated by the stunning beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
You’ll be treated to picturesque landscapes, lush forests, towering mountains, the wildflowerlined Columbia River and charming small towns. Along the way, you can spot wildlife such as bald eagles, ospreys, and even whales in the river. We will also be tracing the path of the Lewis and Clark expedition on the Corps Of Discovery that Thomas Jefferson launched from Charlottesville.
UVA’s Prof. Lisa Reilly will have much to say about the incredible, unique architecture along the way. We will spend time in The Dalles and learn about the days of gold miners and gunslingers. We’ll cruise the Columbia River Gorge to Richland and learn about the city’s agricultural roots.
You’ll not expect how gloriously beautiful this part of the country is!
